Book Review: The Neapolitan Novel by Elena Ferrante

Updated: Oct 17, 2020

During a pandemic, two of us decided to read The Neapolitan Novel, 4 books. What to say, but from the mid second book, I could not stop reading it. Pretty much I became addicted until I reached the last page. Books are about a childhood friendship that continues through mature years, with all of its ups and downs. Without spoiling it, books are full of love, hatred, passion, desires. It describes the political climate and events in Naples, and small neighborhoods from the fifties onward. Family relationships and the concept of marriage looked through today's lens, you can't but not question. Also, you can't but not admire someone's efforts to succeed and continue to be on their path regardless of the surroundings and circumstances they grew up with. Hope you will enjoy the same as I did.
