Book Review: American Dirt

Wow, what a story....although this is a fictional story, it is inspired by the true-life experiences of people who struggle in their countries, and difficult paths they need to go through to come to a safer place. It is heartbreaking to read about the tragedy that happened to a mother and her 8 years old boy and absolutely brutal journey to their freedom. As migrants running away from cartels, they meet other people with their own trauma and tragedies and create an unbreakable connection based on humanity, love, and loyalty. When 8 years old boy put his own safety at risk to help another human being at the most difficult times, you get that empowering feeling that good does exist. It is unimaginable what a person can endure protecting people they love. Powerful read!
